About us
The Saag Jonker Group is based in Oudtshoorn, Western Cape and since 1976 it has developed from humble beginnings into presently the largest privately-owned vertically-integrated ostrich farming, processing and marketing operation in the world.
We are recognized throughout the international market and we believe that OPSA proudly represents our industry, and our country, abroad. In 2000, Saag Jonker was chosen amongst several hundred entrants as South Africa’s “Farmer of the Year.” Our Group is well respected in the community, where we have actively pursued the socio-economic development of our workers and their families. Our workers are regularly awarded accolades in the regional and provincial “Farm Worker of the Year” competitions one of our young farm workers raised on the farm, won the overall provincial title. Sustainability is the forefront of our objectives and we have over the years actively invested substantially in housing, sanitation, childcare and recreational facilities for our staff of more than 350 and approximate 1000 dependents.
